Artist director's death won't stop debut film
Investors in the film "Barber" say they will hire a new director to finish shooting the movie after original Director Chen Yifei died on Sunday from a gastric hemorrhage.
The film's Executive Producer Han Sanping said Chen's passing would not change the movie's shooting schedule, which has already been delayed several years. "We will find another veteran director to take Chen's place," Han said. "Chen himself had devoted so much energy to the making of 'Barber,' we will try our best to realize his last dream." Huang jianxin, a member of China's fifth generation of filmmakers, is considered the leading candidate to take over direction of the film. He is known for such works as "Back to Back, Face to Face." Wang shaowei, a member of the film crew, said they would start to discuss the list of successors tonight and would need several days to make the final decision. "Barber," starring actor Chen Kun and actress Zeng Li, tells the tale of a sad love triangle set in the 1920s. The film was shut down for two years following a dispute between several of the principals in early 2003.
