Manchester United reach FA Cup final
Manchester United got two goals from Ruud van Nistelrooy on Sunday to help the defending champions beat Newcastle 4-1 and set up an FA Cup final against Arsenal.
Man United and Arsenal, the two most successful teams in the history of the world's oldest cup competition, will meet in the final at Millennium Stadium on May 21. United has won the trophy 11 times and Arsenal nine times. Arsenal defeated Blackburn 3-0 on Saturday.
Manchester United has beaten Arsenal in the English Premier League this season and also eliminated the Gunners from the League Cup. It will be first FA Cup final between the two teams Arsenal beat Man United 3-2 in 1979.
"We will look forward to it," Ferguson said. "I remember that scoreline."
Man United scored in the 20th minute when Van Nistelrooy guided a shot between Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given and the far post. It was Van Nistelrooy's first United goal in nine games since he returned from a long layoff with an Achilles' tendon injury.
Scholes scored the second goal with a glancing header inside the far post, and Van Nistelrooy made it 3-0 in the 58th with a low shot inside the right hand post.
Ameobi got one back a minute later, but Ronaldo scored in the 76th.
