College grads turn to Buddha for good jobs? (cri) Updated: 2005-04-21 15:49
The Sleeping Buddha Temple at the Beijing Botanical Garden has become popular
among college students, who flex the muscles to land a job.
Oddly enough, "Sleeping Buddha Temple" in mandarin sounds similar to the
English word "office", and many students have come to believe that hanging
around the temple with bring them the blessing of a good job.
Professor Cong Zhong from Peking University says the difficulty of finding a
good job has put too much pressure on graduates, and they may resort to
superstitious beliefs to find relief.
