At least three people were buried in a mountain landslide Thursday morning in the suburbs of Hohhot, capital of the north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, said a local source.

The landslide occurred at about 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the valley of Daqingshan Mountain in the northern suburbs of Hohhot, the regional capital, when three to five workers were staying at a quarry. It remains unknown the exact number of workers buried with the landslide, the source said.

The rescue work has not been unfolded yet by the press time due to frequent happening of caves-in at the accident site.

The quarry has stopped production from some time, said the local source, adding that the buried people were the workers looking after the equipment

The rescue team, organized by the municipal government, has rushed to the accident scene.
