and will next face Monte Carlo Masters champion Rafael Nadal. The eighth-seeded
Spaniard beat 10th-seeded Dominik Hrbaty of Slovakia 6-1, 6-2.
Seventh-seeded Nikolay Davydenko of Russia eliminated ninth-seeded Thomas
Johansson of Sweden 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (2).
Juan Carlos Ferrero of Spain and Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic also
advanced. Ferrero defeated Alberto Martin of Spain 6-1, 6-2, and Stepanek topped
Guillermo Canas of Argentina 6-7, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5).
