China to enhance friendly exchanges with Cambodia
China is willing to enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation with mutual benefits with Cambodia, in a bid to continuously promote bilateral ties into new high, said Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing Saturday. Li made the remarks in a meeting with Norodom Ranarith, president of Cambodian National Assembly and Funcinpec Party chairman, who is here to visit former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk. Ranarith reiterated Cambodia's firm adherence to one-China policy, saying that Cambodia will also firmly support China's passing of the Anti-Secession Law, and stand for China's peaceful reunification. Cambodian National Assembly and government agree China's view on reforms of the United Nations, Ranarith said, noting that expansion of the Security Council is especially important. Full consideration should be given to an increase in the representation of the developing countries in the Council, he said,stressing that reform should be made through serious discussions and cautious actions. The 82-year-old Sihanouk gave up the throne to his son Norodom Sihamoni last
October. The former King, suffering from diabetes and colon cancer, is in
Beijing for medical treatment. |
