Forty-hour dancing Marathon starts in Uruguay

About 500 couples, started Saturday to compete in Uruguay the 1,000-US dollar award for the 40-hour dancing Marathon to be registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The contest, taking place for the third year in a row in the main square of the city of Toledo, 20 kilometers from this capital, will obtain funds for the contruction of a shelter for the elder and a school, said the organizers of the event to the media.

The winning couple will receive 1,000 dollars and appear in the Guinness records. The dancing contest will be recorded in video.

The 500 couples will have food, water, fruit and chocolate to endure the 40 hours of dancing which will have 10 minutes of rest per every hour at first, until the final part of eight hours of dance in a row.
