Plane missing in north Australia, crash feared (Agencies) Updated: 2005-05-07 15:13
A plane with 16 people went missing in bad weather in remote far northeast
Australia on Saturday and authorities feared it might have crashed.
A spokeswoman for Australian Search and Rescue told Reuters a search for the
aircraft was underway in the sparsely populated region.
The plane was on its way to the remote Aboriginal community of Lockhart River
on Cape York peninsula -- about 1,900 km (1,200 miles) northwest of the
Queensland state capital Brisbane -- from Bamaga, on the tip of Cape
York.
