A downpour doused the city of Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province Monday morning, bringing the visibility in the urban area to less than 100 meters.
The provincial meteorological administration said that major parts of Guangdong Province reported rainstorms Monday, which also triggered avalanches of mud and rock.
A trough of low pressure brought great precipitation to Guangdong during the past week-long May Day holiday.
The province's center, including Guangzhou, was ravaged again by rainstorms on Sunday and Monday. The precipitation in the city' s urban area amounted to 37.5 mm in two days, said Guangzhou meteorological observatory, which has already sent out the yellow rainstorm warning signal.
