Olympic 100 meters titlist Justin Gatlin won the 200 meters in 20.04 seconds at the U.S. championships in Carson, California, on Sunday.

Tyson Gay finished second in 20.06 seconds with Olympic champion Shawn Crawford third in 20.12 seconds. Three will be the members of the U.S. team for August's world championships in Helsinki.

Gatlin, who won the 100m on Saturday, became the first person to win both sprints at the U.S. championships since 1985.

Crawford was at a disadvantage running from lane nine after slowing up in the semi-finals and just qualifying.

Olympic silver medallist Bernard Williams crashed out in the semi-finals, finishing eighth in his race in 20.94 seconds while running the tight curves of lane one.
