Russia is now undefeated at home in ten matches since losing to the United States in the 1995 final.

Russia will travel to Croatia in the semifinals. Croatia beat Romania 4-1 after their reverse singles on Sunday on indoor carpet in Split, Croatia. Ivan Ljubicic beat Andrei Pavel 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.

Ljubicic was also the hero when Croatia upset the United States in the first round, beating Andre Agassi and Andy Roddick as well as winning the doubles with Mario Ancic.

"I did the same thing as in America," Ljubicic said. "It's a great feeling again. I'm the happiest person in the world."

Ancic beat Victor Hanescu in the second reverse singles match 7-6 (3), 7-6 (8).

The semifinals will be played September 23-25.
