Du Wei begins Celtic trial (FootballAsia.com) Updated: 2005-08-03 08:59
¡°I know there is a very high standard required for central defenders at the
top level in Europe and I would like the chance to develop. I think I could
adapt to the different physical demands.¡±
Meanwhile, having watched Celtic in
action for the first time on the weekend, Japan international midfielder
Shunsuke Nakamura believes that he can make a significant contribution to his
new club.
Nakamura was on hand at Fir Park as Celtic threw away a 3-1 lead in their 4-4
draw with Motherwell. Despite the physical nature of the match, the Most
Valuable Player of the Asian Cup 2004 was undaunted and feels that he can make a
difference when he makes his debut for the Bhoys on Saturday in their home match
against Dundee United.
¡°I think I can add a bit of sparkle to the play. If I can get on the ball,
then I'm sure I can make the passes to create goals,¡± said the former Reggina
player.
¡°I watched the strikers and how they made their runs so that I can work with
them in the future.
¡°It was certainly a very exciting game and a different style to the one I've
been used to in Japan and Italy.¡±
