Ballack ignores Bayern pressure, says he will take his time in deciding future
MUNICH, Germany (AP) _ Michael Ballack said Wednesday he hasn't decided where he will be playing next season _ but claims he hasn't talked to any club other than Bayern Munich. Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and coach Felix Magath have publicly urged Germany's captain to sign a new contract through to 2010. "I don't let myself be influenced from the outside, this is a decision I have to make with my family," said the 28-year-old midfielder. "I'll make my decision when I feel it's the right time. I still have a year left on my contract. I have a lot of time. So much can still happen." Ballack called a press conference to deny media reports that he has agreed to play with Manchester United at the end of the upcoming season. "When I have to deny something, then I will deny something," Ballack said. Ballack has been voted his country's best player three of the past four years. In the 2001-2002 season, Ballack scored more than 30 goals in all competitions for former club Bayer Leverkusen. At the 2002 World Cup, his goal-scoring feats lifted Germany into the final.
