According to British newspaper the Sunday Mirror, 43-year-old Cruise was inspired when he witnessed a $1 million wedding at the resort.

He was staying at the resort in May and was furious after being told he could not stay in the presidential suite because of a wedding. He gate-crashed the celebrations and was so impressed by what he saw. He immediately said he wanted a same one.

In the wedding that inspired Cruise, an American couple got married on the white sandy beach at Maroma resort.

300 bare-footed guests went up a path lined by 500 candles to a castle where the party was held. A huge jungle scene was depicted at the entrance to the castle.

The inside was decorated like an Arabian temple. The couple's wedding cake had five tiers.

Two weeks later, Cruise called his California-based wedding planner Kevin Lemon and said: "Can you make it identical but with millions of flowers?"

Kevin was really excited about planning such a massive wedding, especially after Tom said that he could have a blank cheque for the ceremony. Their wedding is expected to take place later this year.
