GERMANY

Bayern Munich beat Bavarian rivals Nuremberg 2-1 on Saturday with goals from Paolo Guerrero and Michael Ballack to equal their own record of 13 consecutive Bundesliga wins.

Werder Bremen and Hamburg SV both won on Saturday to stay within two points of the leaders.

Bremen warmed up for their Champions League game against Barcelona with a 5-1 victory away to Kaiserslautern. Hamburg joined them on 10 points with a 3-1 success away to Mainz.

Giovanni Trapattoni's problems mounted as VfB Stuttgart could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Arminia Bielefeld.
