FIDELITY AGREEMENT: STILL DISPUTED

The moment a fidelity agreement is signed, no one is willing tobreak their relationships. Can fidelity agreements efficiently protect the interests of "victims", once the rupture of a marriageoccurs?

Local court judges are very cautious about the issue since it'svery fresh in China's legal practice.

In terms of property, the agreement is proper for both sides. In the supervision rights over children, the agreement has some bugs, for supervision is also a kind of duty, which cannot be deprived easily, said Deng Guizang.

Deng holds that a single fidelity agreement alone cannot sustain a happy marriage, which is based on mutual understanding and true feelings between spouses.

"Couples should take more cautious attitude toward fidelity agreements," Deng said.
