Teenager Yuan Peilin triumphed in the women's 10-meter platform diving event, helping her hometown Hubei win the first gold medal at the National Games.

The 14-year-old Yuan outnumbered Olympic champion Li Ting of Guangxi in the final competition and finished first with a total of 609.81 points.

Beijing's Shen Chuanzi took the silver with 603.33 points, followed by Li Ting 592.02.
