151 sky divers from eight Jump Planes set a World Record for formation skydiving in Perris, California with a "151-way" jump on September 30, 2005. The Record jump by the women of "Jump for the Cause" set occurred on 18th jump of the week. The group's previous record was a "131-way" in 2002. Jump for the Cause, the leading non-profit organization that organizes skydiving fundraisers, held the event at The Perris Valley Skydiving Center, the largest center in North America in Perris, California from September 26 - October 1, 2005, to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Participants for the event included two breast cancer survivors, and other cancer survivors. These women represented 24 states, 15 countries, and occupations that range from trauma nurses to airline pilots to safety engineers. They jump because in the time it takes to skydive from leap to landing; at least one woman will be diagnosed with breast cancer. [Reuters]
