Typhoon Longwang to hit China has claimed at least 42 lives and caused
billions of US dollars in total damage in eastern coastal province of Fujian,
according to the provincial statistics.
Six people were missing in the typhoon, which displaced more than 500,000
people and created losses of some 7.5 billion yuan, or about 926 million US
dollars.
Longwang, which landed in Fujian Province on the night of October 2, ravaged
the province for 10 hours, dilapidating nearly 10,000 houses, by the latest
