Tenth National Games ends on sour note

Top-level performances of athletes from all over the country inspired people all over Jiangsu province and the preparations by local government was also a legacy.

"Most of the residents in our province have never seen such a fierce national competition before and the National Games offered them the chance," said Wu Jingqi, executive vice secretary general of Jiangsu. "The Games also pushed forward the development of Jiangsu in almost every aspect, such as infrastructure construction and environmental protection."

Wu said venue constructions cost about 5.5 billion yuan and all will be used for fitness and sports after the Games.

"We have seen the potential of the sports industry from these Games and we believe more profit from hosting the Games will follow."
