Rescuers Thursday have found six bodies of miners who were missing in a coal mine outburst Wednesday in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, making the death toll rise to seven.

A local government source said the tragedy occurred around 2:30p.m. Monday in the Changping Coal Mine, about 40 kilometers west to Fengjie County of the municipality.

Twenty-seven miners were working in the mine shaft when the gasblast happened. One miner was killed on the spot and six others were missing.

The bodies of those missing were retrieved in a one-day search.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
