The new design sticks mainly with tradition using white shirts, black shorts and white socks, although there is also red and gold on the shirts and shorts.

Hosts Germany get the World Cup underway on June 9 in Munich with the final scheduled for July 9 in Berlin. The draw will be held in Leipzig on December 9.

Metzelder out of Germany's clash with France

FRANKFURT, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Borussia Dortmund centre-back Christoph Metzelder will miss Germany's friendly international against France on Saturday because of a back problem.

Metzelder, now recovered from career-threatening Achilles injuries, made his first appearance for Germany in 32 months in the recent 1-0 win over China.

The 2006 World Cup hosts had not managed to keep a clean sheet since a 3-0 win over Tunisia in the Confederations Cup in June and Metzelder immediately went to the front of the queue for places in Juergen Klinsmann's final squad.

"It's unfortunate because he was going to play alongside (Per) Mertesacker again against France," said Klinsmann.

Cologne's Lukas Sinkiewicz, Chelsea's Robert Huth and Hertha Berlin's Arne Friedrich are the possible replacements for Metzelder in the Paris game, Germany's last match in 2005.
