One killed, two injured in Anhui firecracker plant explosion

A firecracker plant explosion killed one person and injured two others in Chaohu, a city in east China's Anhui Province on Thursday afternoon, sources with the local government said on Friday.

The two injured are still under treatment in hospital.

According to the work safety watchdog of Juchao District of Chaohu City, the explosion occurred at Ruilong Firecracker Factory in Sanbing Township at 4:55 p.m. Thursday.

All firecrackers factories in the district were required to suspend production for safety check.

The blast-hit factory is a qualified firecracker producer with complete licenses, but the owner of the factory was unable to be located following the accident. Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
