Oil tanker explodes in New York (Xinhua]) Updated: 2006-01-17 08:43
US firefighters spray a foam mixture onto the burning
wreckage of a tanker truck that overturned and exploded on the six-lane Brooklyn-Queens
Expressway near Roosevelt Avenue Monday, January 16, 2006, in the Queens borough of
New York. Authorities did not know why
the truck overturned. The truck was carrying 8,000 gallons of diesel
fuel, said Jarrod Bernstein, a spokesman for the city's Office of Emergency Management.
The explosion shut down the expressway in both directions as well as a
nearby subway line.[AP] |
