China Life Insurance Co. (LFC), the country's biggest life insurer in revenue terms, posted 7.3% growth in insurance premiums in 2005, company figures show.

China Life had premium income of CNY160.93 billion in 2005, compared with the CNY150 billion it reported in 2004. The company disclosed the 2005 figure to the Hong Kong stock exchange Thursday but didn't offer any comment on it.

China's insurance companies report their premium income on a monthly basis to regulators. Those figures are based on Chinese accounting standards, and so aren't directly comparable with figures prepared according to international accounting standards that China Life publishes with its formal financial results.
