Zheng, Yan rule out 4th seed, reach semis in Australian Open

Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, Australian Open's 12th seed pair successfully saved two match points en route to topple Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain and Paola Suarezformer of Argentina, former world No.1 pair and 4th seed pair of the match to reach the semifinals of women's doubles at Australian Open.

The Chinese pair will meet Shinobu Asagoe of Japan and Katarina Srebotnik of Slovenia, the 9th seed pair in the semifinals.

Zheng Jie and Yan Zi, the last Chinese pair playing at the Australian Open, smashed their European counterparts, the eight Grand Slam winners by 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

This is by far Chinese doubles players' best record at the Australian Open.

Zheng and Yan rallied from one set behind and saved two match points in the second set to topple the European pair.
