Fixed assets investment up 25.7% in 2005 (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-01-26 09:07
China's total fixed assets investments amounted to 8,860.4 billion yuan in
2005, up 25.7 percent year-on-year, Li Deshui, commissioner of the National
Bureau of Statistics, said here Wednesday.
The growth rate was down 0.9 percentage points on 2004, Li said at a press
conference held by the Information Office of the State Council.
Investment in fixed assets in urban areas was 7,509.6 billion yuan, up 27.2
percent (1,183.7 billion yuan for December, up 24.2 percent). In rural areas the
figure was up 18.0 percent.
Statistics show that investment in different sectors is better structured.
Investments in smelting and pressing of ferrous metals was up 27.5 percent, just
0.1 percentage points lower than the previous year, while investments in the
manufacture of non-metallic mineral products were up 26.6 percent, 15.1
percentage points lower than 2004.
As for regional differences, investments in eastern areas were up 24 percent,
and up 32.7 and 30.6 percent respectively in central and western areas, Li said.
