Everton's Li Tie to play China's Asian Cup qualifier

GUANGZHOU, Feb. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- Li Tie, who plays with English premier league side Everton, joined the Chinese national team here on Tuesday for the upcoming Asian Cup qualifier against Palestineon Sunday.

The 29-year-old, whose ankle injury has not recovered completely, became the first Chinese player back from overseas. Manchester City defener Sun Jihai is also expected to come back for the international duty.

Li, who joined Everton in 2002, has played little this season due to the injury, but a health checkup shows that his condition is fine and he can be fit enough to play Sunday's game.

China, who was defeated 1-0 by Honduras last Sunday, restarted training on Tuesday for their last preparation for the Palestine game.
