Jiang Zhenghua, vice-chairman of NPC Standing Committee The following is a biographical sketch of Jiang Zhenghua, who was just elected vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC): Male, born in 1937, of Han nationality, native to Fuyang, Zhejiang Province; holding he professional title of professorship. Studied at the Xi'an Jiaotong University, Electrical Engineering major, in 1954-1958; served as a lecturer at the Automatic Control Department of the Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1958-1979; lecturer and vice dean of the Systems Engineering Institute of the Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1979-1980; studied at the Bombay International Institute of Demography, India, in 1980-1982; lecturer at the Systems Engineering Institute of the Xi 'an Jiaotong University in 1982-1984; director of the Institute of Population and Economy of the Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1984- 1991; vice-minister of the State Family Planning Commission (SFPC) in 1991-1992; vice-chairman of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party (CPWDP) and vice-minister of the State Family Planning Commission in 1992-1997; vice-chairman of the 9th NPC Standing Committee and CPWDP chairman and SFPC vice-minister in 1998-1999; vice-chairman of the 9th NPC Standing Committee and CPWDP chairman in 1999-present.
