The expo attaches more importance to promoting social development by adopting high-tech means and modern ideas and concepts. Its exhibitions will demonstrate the application of high-tech to environmental protection, urban waste water treatment, intelligent management of transportation and public health. The Meeting on the Promotion of Key Projects in Urban Development to Invite Investment" will address such heated topics as  ''urban industries", space layout for urban development, architecture and traffic, while promoting a large batch of key projects in urban management and infrastructure in Beijing and other provinces and municipalities to attract social and international capital for the construction of public utilities and urban construction.

The first "China Summit on City Management and Development" will tackle such topics as the strategy and positioning of cities, planning and construction of city management information, integration of urban resources, intelligent urban transportation and logistics, and urban culture and brands.

The Expo also pays more attention to pharmaceutical and health care industries that are directly related to the nation's economy and people's livelihoods. The "International Development Conference on Pharmaceutical and Health-Care Industries" will separately address the development of these two industries.

The discussion on the pharmaceutical industry will assemble representatives from both the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain, including those engaged in scientific research, production, management and financial investment institutions, to conduct international exploration and exchanges on applying information technology in researching new medicines, as well as financing, reorganization, marketing and pharmaceutical enterprise management.

The forum on developing the health care industry will focus on such topics as the acceleration of market-based approaches for China's health care industry and international exchanges and cooperation.
