The 2004 Beijing International Automobile Exposition (Auto China 2004), inaugurated June 10 at the China International Exhibition Center and China Agricultural Exhibition Center, is the biggest event of its kind in China, attracting nearly 1,900 corporations from China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Holland, Sweden and Russia, with a total exhibition area of 110,000 square meters.
Over 540 vehicles are participating in the expo, including nearly 200 foreign models. On display is a large batch of high-tech products from the contemporary international auto industry, as well as advanced technology and products developed by the domestic auto industry, pointing to the developmental trend on the world's auto market.
In addition, auto parts, product-development technology, manufacturing equipment, new materials and crafts, and examination and maintenance equipment have also taken the stage. More than 40 technological communications conventions and professional forums will also be launched during the event.
China's auto industry has experienced the highest growth and most drastic competition in the world after its entry into the World Trade Organization. The biyearly exposition has served as a platform for both domestic and foreign automakers -- such as Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Audi, Daimler-Chrysler, Toyota, Hyundai, BMW, Honda, Volkswagen, BIAC, Chang'an, Chery, Geely and Brilliance Jinbei -- to showcase their strengths.
The world-renowned, which has been held on seven occasions since 1990, will cater to professionals June 10-11 and will open to the public June 12-16.
