Smokers compete for honour of quitting Some 1,400 smokers from Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province, plan to compete globally for the honour of successfully quitting the the smoking habit, Guangzhou Daily reports. Any smoker who can stay away from tobacco for four consecutive weeks will be chosen as candidates to take part in an international quitting smoking competition. The 1,400 smokers are the primary stage winners based on the Guangzhou regional contest. China has been a competition member for four years, while it's the first time for smokers in Guangzhou to join in. Random identification checks and chemical tests are also conducted on the competitors to avoid any cheating in the competition.
