Hotel promotes crocodile meat A hotel in Changsha has got into hot water after promoting a wild crocodile dish, reports the New Newspaper of the East. The move was widely condemned by local people in Hunan's provincial capital because it is forbidden to eat wild crocodiles in China. As well as exhibiting a big promotional slogan, the hotel even put a live crocodile in front of its premises to attract the attention of passers-by. The most expensive crocodile dish in the hotel restaurant is 4,000 yuan (US$500). The waitresses insist the crocodiles are wild, but the under-fire manager has insisted the crocs are bred in captivity. |
