Sexist cafe ad draws women employee's ire It's a matter of principle, women in Wuhan say. A restaurant posted an advertisement in its window stating it would pay "ordinary looking women 3 yuan (36 US cents) per hour, beauties receive additional pay," China Women's News reports. The eatery hires quite a few female university students as part-time waitresses. The ad angered the young women who said they viewed it as gender discrimination and an insult to them. The restaurant supervisor defended the action, however. A Hubei Province government official said the restaurant is suspected of gender discrimination and paying people unequally for equal work, which is illegal in China.
