Houston Rockets star Chinese center Yao Ming was named NBA Western Conference player of the week.

Miami Heat forward Lamar Odom on Monday garnered the Eastern Conference player of the week.

Yao won his award after helping the Rockets win two of three games last week. Leading Houston in points and rebounds in all three contests, he averaged an astonishing 29.7 points per game.

Odom led the Heat to a 2-1 record last week after averaging 23.0 points, 13.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game.

He had 30 points, 19 rebounds and 11-assists in Saturday's 102-96 win over Sacramento for just the third 30-15-10 game in the NBA since 1989.
