Sun Jihai recognizes his responsibility

Had it not been for a slight delay in receiving his visa, Sun Jihai would have been racing round City's Carrington training ground in his familiar energetic style this week.

Instead, his return to action will probably come against Bolton in Bangkok on Wednesday, with Pearce, his squad significantly down on numbers, eager to have Sun back in the fold.

"Sun Jihai can play in either full-back position, central defence or central midfield," observed the new City boss.

"He is a great asset to have because he is so comfortable on both feet.

"It will be a case of sliding him into one or two positions during pre-season and seeing what we can get out of him."
