A former Party official of north China's Shanxi Province, Hou Wujie, was dismissed as deputy to the provincial people's congress for taking bribes, according to a circular by the provincial legislature on Friday.
Hou, 60, formerly served as deputy secretary of the Shanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He was suspended from his post last December for taking a huge amount of bribes, says the circular issued by the Standing Committee of the Shanxi Provincial People's Congress, the provincial legislature.
The amount of bribes was not released.
Hou, native of the province's Yuxian County, was elected deputy to the provincial legislature by the Jinzhong City People's Congress. The city legislature decided to dismiss him as the deputy in August this year according to law, which was approved by the provincial legislature early this month.
A graduate student of the Central Party School, Hou joined the CPC in 1966. He once served as head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and secretary ofthe CPC Taiyuan City Committee.
Further investigation into Hou's case is still under way.
