Hu Jintao arrives in DPRK for visit

PYONGYANG -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Pyongyang on Friday an official goodwill visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).
Hu, who is also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is paying the visit at the invitation of Kim Jong-il, general secretary of the Workers' Partyof Korea and chairman of the National Defense Commission.
He is expected to stay in the DPRK from Friday to Sunday.
During his visit, Hu and DPRK party and state leaders will havean in-depth exchange of views over the development of relations between the two countries, and the two parties, said Kong Quan, spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, at a press conference Tuesday.
The two sides will also exchange views on international and regional issues of mutual concern, said the spokesman.
Hu's entourage included Alternate Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Wang Gang, Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, Director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee Wang Huning, Deputy Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Liu Hongcai, Vice Commerce Minister Liao Xiaoqi, and Director of President's Office Chen Shiju.
