An insurgent group with links to Al-Qaeda Saturday claimed responsibility for an attack on a US military patrol that killed 10 marines near Fallujah, the Arab satellite television network Al-Jazeera said.
"The Islamic Army (in Iraq) claimed the attack in video broadcast on its Internet site Saturday," Al Jazeera said, showing footage from a video it said came from the group but adding that its authenticity could not be verified.
Ten marines were killed and 11 wounded Thursday when a homemade bomb exploded near a patrol of US soldiers on foot outside the restive city of Fallujah, the US military said.
The Islamic Army in Iraq is a rebel group known for kidnapping and killing foreigners.
It claimed responsibility for the murder of Italian journalist Enzo Baldoni in August 2004, and kidnapped two French journalists who were later freed in December last year after four months in captivity.
