Nation concludes first ever economic census

After two years of hard work, Chinese census workers have successfully wrapped up the country's first ever economic census.

"All the tasks of the census have been accomplished," said Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan here on Tuesday at a conference.

He said the census results faithfully reflect the achievements China has reaped in economic development since the adoption of reform and opening-up policies in the late 1970s.

Meanwhile, the census also mirrors the real conditions of both China's overall economy and its industrial structure, he said.

The results of the census, he said, should be made full use of so that they can help the government better its service for the public.

More than three million census workers, over 10 million statisticians and financing staff, and more than 50 million business units were involved in the two-year census. Enditem
