Hospital registration forms forming mountains of paper

Hundreds and thousands of registration forms are piled high during a free hospital service day in Guangzhou last Wednesday.

Some 200,000 local residents have queued for consulting doctors in 198 hospitals where working times have had to be expanded to meet the large demand.

Complaints about fewer medical experts and the waiting time being too long have been heard, the Southern Metropolis News reports.

Some argue free medical consultations are utterly inadequate to deal with the soaring costs of healthcare.
