12月13日，居住在15个国家的伊拉克籍海外人士开始参加伊拉克新议会选举的第一天投票。散居在世界各地的伊拉克海外人士投票率很高。在伊朗首都德黑兰南部，可以看到数百名伊拉克人排成长队参加投票。

说“投票”，我们常常用vote来表示。报道中的cast a ballot也许才是真正的“投票”，因为cast是“投”的意思，ballot表示“选票”，用cast a ballot来表示“投票”似乎更生动、更形象一些，此外，也可用cast a vote来表示。
比如，I never fail to cast my ballot.（每次投票选举，我都会参加。）
这样，“投票”就有了三种说法，它们就是vote, cast a ballot, cast a vote。
