Travellers strip for 'No Pants' day

Public transport users across the world have reportedly taken off their trousers during their underground commute today in honour of this year's 'No Pants Subway Ride'.

Organisers Improv Everywhere claimed that 3,000 people in the event's home of New York took part, with others doing the same in 16 countries worldwide, BBC News reports.

A statement on the group's website read: "The ninth annual No Pants Subway Ride went off without a hitch today in New York.

"Riders met at meeting points spread out all over the city and converged on Union Square. The high was 28 degrees [Fahrenheit] (-2.2 C)."

Participant Sarah Jackson in Edmonton, Canada told CTV News: "People you know look around, they're curious and interested and for some reason I feel incredibly comfortable in my underwear on the LRT."
