Hello Kitty, the cartoonish white cat created by the Sanrio Corporation in 1974, may be running out of product lives, the New York Times reported. The popularity of the cute cat is waning and its sales have shrunk for a decade. Analysts say part of the problem is that Sanrio has oversold Hello Kitty, which appears on products as various as T-shirts, toilet paper and toasters. Now the company is struggling to find the next-generation version of adorable. |
