A Chinese clone of Apple iPad called iPed caused quite a stir among locals. Released in Shenzhen recently, the device costs $150, only 1/4 of the $500 cost of the lowest-priced iPad. Sporting a 7-inch screen, the device looks almost identical to the iPad, but is a bit heavier. iPed supports up to 16GB of micro-SD-based space for storage and has 128MB of RAM. The device runs on Google's Android OS 1.5 and is said to be powered by an Intel chip. |
