Google is phasing out use of Microsoft's ubiquitous Windows operating system for fear it is more vulnerable to attacks by hackers and more susceptible to computer viruses, the Financial Times reported Tuesday. Its new staffers are reportedly given the option of using Apple's Mac computers or PCs running the Linux operating system. Those wanting to stay on Windows need approval from "senior levels", one employee revealed. It was also an effort to run the company on Google's own products, including its forthcoming Chrome OS, which will compete with Windows, certain employees said. |
