Japanese electronics makers Fujitsu and Toshiba have agreed to merge their mobile phone operations and will set up a joint venture on October 1, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday. The deal would create the 2nd-largest cellphone maker in the country after Sharp. Analysts said the move would be a plus for Toshiba, whose cellphone operations have been losing money, but it is neutral for Fujitsu. |
