Sleeping for 7 hours each night can help you stay healthy, according to new US research. For years, we have been told that 8 hours of sleep provides the best start to the day. But now experts have found that it is 7 hours that brings optimal health – and that more or less sleep may do us harm. A study of more than 30,000 adults found cardiovascular disease is twice as high among those sleeping less than 5 hours a day, compared with those getting 7 hours. Those who slept 9 hours or more also had a markedly increased risk.(See photo)
