These frightening creatures (see photo) look like aliens from another world. But chances are they're living in your home. Using a high-powered microscope, science photographer Steve Gschmeissner has captured stunningly detailed pictures of household pests including bed bugs, flies and dust mites that lurk in our carpets, sofas and kitchen cupboards, the Sun of London reported. The photos show the insects magnified more than a million times to reveal previously unseen details. One incredible image shows a maggot with tiny fangs extending from its mouth. Another reveals the fearsome-looking cat flea.
