Jack Nicholson apologizes for hitting on Nicole Kidman

One of Hollywood's most legendary ladies men, actor Jack Nicholson is used to getting any woman he sets his eyes on. Now however, he is tendering an apology to actress Nicole Kidman for hitting on her.

Nicholson tried to hit on Kidman, who happens to be 30 years his junior, backstage during this year's glittering Academy Awards.

However, what the legendary actor didn't know at the time, was that the man standing besides Kidman, was her fiance Keith Urban.

“I do get rejected. I still owe Nicole Kidman an apology. I didn't know she was engaged - or that she was standing with her fiance,” the Daily Mail quoted him, as saying.

However, as far as the miss goes, well Nicholson just puts it down to the fact that he’s getting on in age.

“Let's just say I'm getting older,' he told USA Today. 'But I haven't lost my sense of whimsy,” he said.

The A Few Good Men star also admitted that he doesn't mind the stories that keep circulating about his life, though he admits that his personal life is not so colorful today as it was a few decades ago.

“I don't mind the wild stories about my personal life. Nowadays, they're a good distance from the truth. I'll play along, because it's a good story. Even I believe it sometimes. But I'm slowing down. To be honest, I need the sleep. I'm getting into my later years. At my age, you begin to enjoy the solitude, the quiet. 'That's OK if people think different. I love to keep them guessing, to see the surprise on their faces,” he revealed.

The 69-year old actor said that though the media was more interested in the lives of the younger Hollywood crowd, he had still not lost his ability to shock.

“Hollywood isn't all that interested in the dramas of middle life and old age. And I understand that. Young people drive the medium. But I'm still alive and kicking. I can still cause trouble,” he added.
